I love fresh dill!

August 21, 2008

Not sure why I rarely buy it. For lunch today, I made the Tofu Dill Salad from Vegan With a Vengeance (I can’t bring myself to call it a “sammich”, sorry!). It’s really good & reminiscent of egg salad. I bought this super-firm tofu at Fred Meyer & fell in love with it.

Looks great. And I’m with you on the “sammich” thing.

Please let me jump into that photo and eat it! I like to call them sandwiches frankly, not sammies or sammiches or anything terribly cutesy.

You’re convincing me to branch out from my usual herbs and seasoning! I usually put fresh basil in everything since I have a pot, but I should try some fresh dill too.

I’ve made that sandwich before and love it! I’m with you, sammich just doesn’t do it for me.

Ha ha! I think it’s funny about not calling them sammiches. For some reason, I have no problem calling them sammies, but I don’t remember ever calling them sammiches. Honestly, though, since having my daughter my whole vocabulary has changed. I say words now that I can’t believe come out of my mouth.

I love that VWAV recipe, though. It is so light and so yummy!

Ricki—Thanks, I thought it was just me!

Nikki—Jump right in! I always make enough food to feed 4 people, for some reason.

Lisa—I’m guilty of abusing basil too! I could eat it as a salad. For some reason though, I’ve never had luck growing it myself; the slugs always wreak havoc on the leaves before I have a chance.

    VeganFabulous—Yeah, it’s a big much. 😛

Jennifer—I think sammies is cute. Sammiches just seems too valley girl or something. I really have no room to talk though, I have a million weird words in my vocab too, as my sister likes to let me know (frequently!). For example, I call the Lord of the Rings movies “LORDO”, as in ,”Wanna watch LORDO tonight?” And if someone says something horribly bad, like they want to die, I’ll forcefully say, “Cancel, cancel, cancel!”, in order to purge the negativity from existence! I swear it works!

This sandwich looks fabulous. I love tofu spreads– especially if they contain dill!

One of the few things I miss from my pre-vegan days is this dill cream cheese from a bagel shop in LA and I literally just spent my entire commute home trying to think of a dill-y recipe to satisfy my dill tooth, and then I got home and this was posted! I think it’s a sign that I’ve got to make it!

Courtney—It does taste exactly like summer!

cookinpanda—I am amazed by how good this tastes! Dill is intensely tasty.

Yo Soy!—I was a cream cheese fiend myself. I think this would really satisfy your dill tooth (you’re awesome!), and you could probably whirl it around in the food processor to get it creamier & better for topping bagels. That’s what I’m trying next time. It’s much better than Tofutti too.
