Bitch, Bitch, Bitch!

September 21, 2008

No, I’m not ranting or name-calling, but urging my lovely feminist friends to donate to Bitch Magazine.  Pretty please!  I just read their plea on Racialicious & wanted to spread the word around a bit more.  I’ve been a subscriber for years & LOVE having something of substance to read (along with Adbusters!), that isn’t full of shitty ads and narrow beauty ideals.  I’m even going to give a gift subscription to my mom!  It may counteract the “junk mags” she buys, heh heh.

mihl—I highly recommend it. It would be so sad to lose it forever. :o (

    lisa—Yay!

miss v—Cool! Thank you very much. I’m glad to have found your blog too.

Vaishali—I think the name might be a turn-off for some of the women it’s aimed at, unfortunately. I hope you like it! :o )

That looks interesting, but the name is kind of a turnoff as you mentioned. I will see if they have a site. As for the master cleanse lemonade, I am glad you agree! I swear I am officially turned off of all citrus fruits for at least a month now…the thought makes my stomach turn!

Adbusters is pretty much one of the only mags I ever buy (since like, I don’t know, 10 years ago), but I’ve never heard of Bitch. Must go check it ou!

    Celine—I hope you like it!

Virginia—I know. I think it’s about reclaiming the term so that it can’t be used against us. I realize there are strong feelings around that though. I hope you can still enjoy regular lemonade! That stuff was BRUTAL…

shellyfish—Cool! I feel like nobody has heard of Adbusters. The two magazines are quite a contrast. Adbusters is all colorful & glossy, whereas Bitch is black & white on rough paper. But both are great!
